Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about the game. Phil would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil started playing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
