Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve final poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest enthusiasts around the world. While wagering on web poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen generally buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amt.. I think television can skew our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world could be guys you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be found participating in web poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in money games?
