Poker has become globally famous recently, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game events. The games universal appeal, though, stretches back in fact a bit further than its TV ratings. Over the years many variations on the earliest poker game have been developed, including some games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely resembling blackjack than long-standing poker, in that the players bet against the bank rather than the other players. The succeeding hands, are the established poker hands. There is no conniving or other types of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up prior to the croupier declares "No further wagers." At that instance, both you and the casino and of course all of the different gamblers attain 5 cards. Once you have seen your hand and the casino’s first card, you need to either make a call bet or give up. The call bet’s amount is on same level to your original wager, indicating that the stakes will have increased two fold. Surrendering means that your bet goes instantly to the bank. After the wager is the showdown. If the casino doesn’t have ace/king or greater, your bet is returned, plus a figure equal to the ante. If the casino has a hand with ace/king or better, you win if your hand beats the dealer’s hand. The bank pays cash equal to your original bet and set expectations on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • three to one for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
