Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only one to achieve closing poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best enthusiasts around the world. While gambling on net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the min buy in.
Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I think television can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world could be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found betting on net poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in big stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in money games?
