Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the last table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best players in the world. While wagering on net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy in.
Buying in for the min takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found competing in web poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes omaha hi-low and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
