Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker players on the planet.
He started competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
